Ardess Australian Whites was founded in 2011 by Robert and Toni Gilmore after seeing the huge potential of the breed.
The Ardess stud developed with the purchase of embryos from The Australian White Foundation Flock based at Tattykeel in Oberon next door to Ardess Australian Whites. Along with the purchase of these embryos we also obtained six exceptional ewes from The Inaugural Australian White sale for an average price of $3300.
Ardess has since conducted numerous embryo transfer programs with the best of our ewes using the leading sires within the breed. This process has resulted in Ardess Australian Whites having large numbers of progeny that are some of the best the breed has to offer. This is reflected through Ardess Australian Whites success in the show ring.
Ardess is passionate about taking the breed forward with a strong focus on quality.
In conjunction with Ardess Australian Whites Robert and Toni are also partners in their family’s commercial business Ardess Pastoral Company. This is a commercial prime lamb enterprise that produces in excess of 10,000 fat lambs annually.
Robert and his family are developing an extensive commercial flock of Australian White ewes believing that a self-replacing Australian White ewe flock will be the future of their prime lamb enterprise. This is due to the easy care and high performance attributes of the breed. This allows the Ardess Australian Whites stud to keep its finger on the pulse to the commercial relevance of the breed which is vital to the breed’s success. As a result we are closely monitoring the breed’s performance. This is done both on farm and on the hook at various abattoirs. We have also entered numerous lamb competitions with excellent results and a number of champion ribbons to accompany them.
